Onizuka Day of Exploration

What is Onizuka Day?

Onizuka Day of Exploration is a free, family-friendly STEM celebration hosted by the Aloha Council in partnership with the University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu.

The event honors the legacy of Hawaiʻi-born astronaut Ellison Onizuka and inspires youth and families to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through hands-on discovery. This year’s event will include a special tribute to Astronaut Ellison Onizuka as we commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Challenger tragedy.

Featuring more than 100 interactive activities, exhibits, and demonstrations, Onizuka Day offers engaging experiences for learners of all ages—from kindergarten through high school and beyond.

Highlights include immersive exhibits, live science demonstrations, robotics challenges, cultural and sustainability activities, and opportunities to connect STEM concepts to real-world careers and innovation.

The 2026 Onizuka Day of Exploration will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM at University of Hawaiʻi West Oʻahu in Kapolei.

Admission and parking are free, and the event is open to the public. For complete event information, including schedules, activities, and updates, click below.
